Glad to have enjoyed this accomodation during 2 weeks, this hotel with lot of bungalows in a spacious green garden is amazing, all hotel staff were really friendly, the rooms and common space were very clean. There were not a lot of food choice but everything were delicious. There is only one pitty thing that the sea is rising inland causing the distruction of the beach of hotel but in few months the problem should be solved. The hotel is close to the tourist place. I absolutly recomand this hotel.

Beautiful resort hotel about 1 1/2 hours drive from Dakar, partially on new toll highway. The hotel is spread out in a tropical garden and has a nice pool/beach area (but no access to the ocean) with trees for shade. Rooms are bright and functional, WiFi works very well. Service is friendly, meals were included in price and the buffet three times daily was very good, including nice home made desserts. Even wine and beer is inclusive. For those who want, there is some animation program and the option to book tours on land and water.Reception staff is fluent in English. Outside the hotel is the main street with a disco, several restaurants and bars, souvenir shops etc. There is no real beach access nearby, the ocean doesn't look very clean in the area and the sandy part where the deckchairs are is above the wave level, separated and protected by rocks. Real beach with access to water can be found in other parts of town but I didn't see anyone in the water. The town seems to have suffered from lack of visitors, many places are closed or in disrepair. TFD Score (see by post in the business traveler forum) is 6 out of 10 (not many power outlets, lack of hangers, no TV although I didn't miss it at all)

As our home base during our visit to Senegal, the Hotel Club Royal Say was FANTASTIC!!! Our family of 5 (including children ages 9, 12 and 14) recently traveled to Dakar from New York for a 5-day vacation. The hotel was a great escape for us. We highly recommend Oumar Kebe as a guide for your Senegal holiday! Oumar and his team (including his colleague Papi and driver Sunni) exceeded every expectation we had for our trip. From expedited passport clearance upon arrival to a varied itinerary of activities (Goree Island tour, Bandia safari, city tour, ATV dune bashing around the Pink Lake, surfing at Point Almadies, exploring the Saloum Delta, and jet skiing in Saly), the trip was perfectly tailored for our active and curious family. Oumar listened to our requests and made them happen. Oumar’s vast knowledge of Senegal, coupled with his time abroad in the US, gave him unique perspectives on his own country and its place in the world. He is an amazing teacher and eager ambassador for his homeland. And he’s terrific with kids! Our youngest son was crying inconsolably when it was time to leave “Uncle Oumar”. We unequivocally recommend a visit to Senegal with Oumar as your guide!”

On our last trip to Senegal we moved 4 times due to poor hotels and this was the last place we stayed. I wish this was where we came first as we had a great time there. The room was basic but very clean and had everything we needed including aircon. The pool , location and staff were brill.I have to mention the guy on reception who was very friendly, helpful and spoke a little English. Also the guys doing the entertainment and DJ music were lovely and energetic. They made you feel very welcome. We especially enjoyed the archery .Bouba in the restaurant was such a lovely guy who always made sure we had what we needed and served us with a smile. If I was to criticise anything it would be that for me there was perhaps a little too much of a French influence for me and I personally would prefer more African entertainment and singing. I feel that if I want ''French'' I would go to France. However, we would definitely return, hopefully soonWell done to Royal Saleyand all the staffMame Diarra and Moustapha

I would have given 5 stars as this hotel is exceptional in everything except the reception & the cleaning which I'll mention later after the more positive areas .The restaurant was a delight with great food & wonderful staff .BREAKFAST : 7am - 10 am .Always fresh fruit , croissants, cereals, jams , eggs orange ,baobab & hibiscus fruit juices as well as coffee , tea & chocolate . I was grateful to the staff who brought me a lemon to squeeze with hot water & honey every morning . For late risers there is coffee & croissants in the bar till midday .LUNCH : 1 pm - 2.30 pm Lovely fresh salads grown from the hotels own gardens . Pasta , chips , rice , vegetables with both fish & meat choices . Fresh fruits in season , home made ice creams & desserts .AFTERNOON SNACKS :Crepes , fresh fruit & tea are made by the pool every afternoon .DINNER ; 8 pm - 10 pm Wonderful home made soups . Often a themed meal with Chinese , Senegalese , Italian , Fisherman's night with seafood's galore , suckling pig , beef Wellington & my favourite grilled fish . White , rosé & red wines or a jug of filtered tap water accompanied these delicious meals. Often we would ask for a coffee & cognac or minty digestive to enjoy after our meal .We found something tasty & healthy at every meal & didn't get bored with the menu.THE BAR ; 10 am - midnight Well stocked with good spirits , mixers & juices . The friendly bar staff will make you either an alcoholic or non alcoholic cocktail depending on your choice . There was many a pina colada & rum sunrise sipped at sunset overlooking the beach with the tide coming in & a plate of peanuts . Brand drinks & mixers are of course payable , but I supplied my own tonic water & the bar supplied me with large gins , ice & lemon so I was very happy !.Entertainment & the Animators :Two charming young men to keep you lively with their great music ,ping pong , boules ,archery etc .There are 2 canoes & a pedalo . Good free WiFi in reception & certain rooms .There are 3 evenings with entertainment .Tuesday is Senegalese night with folk lore dancers & tamtams . Friday & Saturday evening local bands play during dinner so you can dance & dine .Thursday local stall holders set out their wares by the bar & pool area . They are more pricey than outside & can be quite insistent .A young lady will do African tresses by the pool . There is also a massage & beauty parlour which my husband really enjoyed & says they were the best 5 massages he's had in a while for 30 € per hour each .Wonderful gardens to walk through & admire the flowers , lizards & amazingly colourful birds . When you first arrive at the hotel the walk through the gardens with your suitcases at 4 am can seem endless until you arrive at reception .MBour is well worth a visit & there is a fisherman in the hotel who will take you by pirogue to watch the bustling market when the fisherman arrive with their catch . He will also take you fishing for only 20€ per person .There are taxis just outside the hotel but they are expensive & one driver ' Hassan' can be very unpleasant so I advise you to walk a few minutes from the entrance before getting a taxi .Count 200 CFA each for a shared taxi to MBour or 1000 if you want it to yourself . 300 CFA to nearby Somonne .Saly village is just outside the hotel & its an enjoyable walk , looking in the shops & craft markets . There are a couple of shops with prices marked so one can get an idea before bargaining elsewhere . There are banks , supermarkets , chemists , exchange bureaux ( bad rate in hotel !) , restaurants , bars , clubs and a casino nearby to the hotel .RECEPTION / CLEANING :The reception staff , ( except the 2 young trainees ) were not very helpful & it was through other tourists that we found out about having to leave the key if you wanted cleaners to do your room . We handed in the key twice to no avail but on the third try when I insisted we needed clean towels the room was eventually cleaned . The following week I left a tip for 5000 CFA & the room was cleaned again . We didn't insist on the third week as the cleaners seemed to be busy elsewhere & we made do . I've never been in a hotel with this cleaning system before & found it let the hotel down .Bottled water is not provided in the all inclusive - only filtered tap water . We bought 6 packs from the local supermarket .The temperatures were exceptionally high this January & reached 40° ( luckily the clime worked well in the room .)The pool was 23° , the sea about 25° . We walked along the beach most mornings to watch the fishermen pull in their nets by hand . Often we'd walk for miles along the coast & get a taxi back for a few hundred CFA's .I'm hoping to come back in November this year as all in all the quality for the price we paid is unbeatable & the staff & other tourists very pleasant .

Hotel Royal Saly provided the perfect ending to our tour of Senegal. The grounds are breathtaking, quiet and relaxing. The stay included 3 meals per day, I have never encountered this in any other hotel. The restaurant comes alive at night with music and dancing, love it.Great staff, great service.
